There are rappers who boast about the things their favorite movie characters have done. They brag about money they don’t have as if it’s already been deposited in their accounts and invested multiple times. None of it is fact, all fiction. Just aspirations.
Then there are folks like Cal Ripken, a young MC who simply spits it how he lives.
Utilizing ability to rap, produce, and sing a hook or two, Cal approaches each track with the intention of painting an accurate picture of what he knows first hand. There are no "woe is me" tales. No urban youth inner-city tragedies to profit from. No tales of posting on corners. But there are stories of girls, parties, relationships, and business, plus a heavy dose of pretty-boy braggadocio.
Exhibit A: His last mixtape Reality Bragging. The thirteen-track release uses original and industry beats as the backdrop while weaving tales of issues dealing with promoters and industry folks, the complexity of intimate relationships, the occasional hater, taking ladies to the crib, and living the party life.
“I’m braggin’, but it’s about what’s real,” explains Calvin Jackson who chose the name Cal Ripken because the baseball great played his position and played it well. “He was the best at what he did and he stayed in his lane,” notes Jackson whose lane could be described as that of the business-savvy, community-connected entertainer.
At the age of 26 he’s a certified entrepreneur with the tax-id number and LLC classification to prove it. His company, Flood The Streets Entertainment (FTS), is responsible for employing local DJs, promoters, and graphic designers during their years all while pushing Cal Ripken as an artist and a brand. Always looking for ways to expand while maintaining a do-it-yourself attitude, he created Top Floor Productions, a vehicle to advance and market his team of producers. Jackson uses his resources and connections made via his business ventures to put together an annual toy-drive in addition to working with local group homes and non-profits to strengthen ties and plan future projects.
But when the lights are low, the mic is up, and the music is blaring, Cal Ripken is the man on stage that dudes can rock with and the ladies want to sample. Reality.

K-Loe / Boston George
Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi also known as the City with Soul.
K-Loe is a rough upbringing in Jackson, he utilized his craft as a means to keep himself out the streets. He’s not just an average street rapper talking about the Average street experiences. The focus of his music is not to glorify blowing money, or looking down on others, its glorifying success even after all one has been through, its glorifying making it out of the struggle without losing one’s self, success that is there for anyone of us to grasp if we work hard and put our mind to it. Even after his home was burnt to the ground losing all of his belongings including his studio, tracks, and hundreds of verses and songs, he did not let that stop him and continued to persevere!
K-Loe’s new single Boston George was inspired by the character from Blow, production by CINO You Did It Again gives the song its traditional heavy drums and 808’s with a feel that can bang both in the club and in the Lac. K-Loe rides the beat with a gritty undertone in his vernacular, utilizing witty punchlines and metaphors delivered in a way that stays consistent with the theme. It’s not what you say but how you say it.

Born in Minneapolis, MN 1985. At the age 10 started writing music just to play around with it, and by 12 years old it was set in stone that music would be the direction. Performed in Minneapolis for the 1st time at 15 years old, but due to legal problems there were setbacks to getting the music out. After serving 42 months from a drug charge in 2003,was released in 2008 and recorded and dropped "4 Da Luv of Da Minne" which was Jai Blizz's 1st mixtape. In January 2009 "Beast of Tha Lakez" was released. Both mixtapes independently recorded and sold. In September 2009 while Blizz was self promoting himself in Memphis and Atlanta, he ran into some legal problems in Atlanta and was placed on 5 years probation there for a gun charge his 4th day there on vacation, and beating the armed robbery and aggravated assault charges against his brother which would've been a minimum 10 years and potential life. With the legal issues aside, "Beast of Tha Lakez 2" dropped in July 2011 selling 500+ copies by hand for the month. Jai Blizz also is the creator of "'THURTY BELOW", his aspiring record company which plans to recruit artists of every genre. With over 70+ songs online on almost every site, and 5+ mixtapes on Datpiff, it's only a matter of time before this artist get the proper recognition and respect deserved in his quest towards becoming a music mogul. He is strong in his belief that God is responsible for his freedom, opportunity, and near success. In July 2012 Jai Blizz released "Blackout The Mixtape" which includes all of Jai Blizz's hottest tracks since 2007 and a couple unreleased ones and Thurty Below Tha New Movement. While independently putting mixtapes in Atlanta, Minneapolis, Memphis, Charlotte, and other cities, the world is getting prepared for a new voice
